The Parties underline that climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time and commit to a vigorous response through immediate ambitious national action and strengthened international cooperation with a view to limit global average temperature rise to a maximum of 2 degrees above pre-industrial levels.

The NY Times reported today that over 49 million homes in the US receive municipal water that is contaminated with pollutants at levels that far exceed Safe Drinking Water Act standards. The pollutants range from arsenic to radium to dry cleaning solvent. Some water systems were found to contain high levels of dangerous bacteria from human sewage. Many of the violations continued unchecked since 2004, and possibly much earlier.
According to the American Psychological Association, one-third of Americans are living with extreme stress and nearly half of Americans (48 percent) believe that their stress has increased over the past five years. An national survey released by the APA revealed stress is taking a toll on people — contributing to health problems, poor relationships and lost productivity at work.
